It is designed for those who wish to gain skills in medical terminology.? It is particularly suitable for those working within a medical environment, although this is not essential

What will I do on the course?

• Origins of structure and medical terms
• Surgical and medical procedures and investigations
• Classification of drugs and prescription abbreviations
• Prefixes, roots and suffixes – composition of medical words
• Titles, professional qualifications, professional bodies relevant to medicine and their abbreviations
• Terminology of body structures, systems, diseases and conditions
• Terminology of pathology and x-ray investigations and procedures

What qualifications do I need?

Participants should possess a good command of the English language

15 weeks, 3 hours per week

How will I be assessed?

Examination will take place in January and June each year.? A pass mark of 70% or more is required and accuracy is therefore essential.? Correct spelling of medical terminology is a requirement for this examination
