Health Social Care Diploma Level 2

Who is this course for?

This course is for you if you want a career working within the health and social care sector. This will suit you if you have a passion and desire to make a difference to the lives of individuals and provide you with the practical skills and knowledge required for a wide range of careers in health, care and early years.

What will I do on the course?

You will explore the variety of jobs that are available in the health, social care or early years' sector and look at what it means to be at work in these sectors. You will also be introduced to the practical skills you will need for care work and will explore the needs of children, finding out how to care for their health and well being and contribute to their development. You will be introduced to the way society views and treats different groups of people and will consider how the environment can affect the health of an individual and the community. You will learn about:

• Communication and individual rights with the health and social care sectors
• The impact of diet on health
• Human lifespan development
• Health & social care services
• Anatomy and physiology for health and social care

Additional qualifications are obtained during the course including;

• An opportunity to improve your English and Maths
• Level 1 Award in Learning to Learn
• Level 1 Award in Environmental Sustainability
• Certificate in Food Safety
• Certificate in Paediatric First Aid

What qualifications do I need?

• 4 GCSEs Grade D or above, OR
• BTEC Introductory Diploma in Health & Social Care
• CACHE Diploma in Caring for Children (QCF)
• Adequate standard of English and Maths
• Mature learners with other qualifications and/or experience are also welcomed
• You should have a strong interest in working in the care sector and demonstrate a commitment to succeed
• You will have an interview to assess your suitability and will require a clean enhanced CRB check with an appropriate personal reference

Are there any additional costs?

Learners may be required to purchase their own personal equipment during the course. You will also be required to pay for your CRB check. Prices and details will be discussed at interview. Bursary funds may be available to help with additional costs.
