This course provides you with the knowledge and skills to find employment in industries, such as the media, PR and journalism.

• learn to research, write for different audiences and work individually as well as in teams
• build your knowledge and understanding of the cultural, political and economic role of the media in contemporary
• develop an awareness of various types of media and the similarities and differences between them
• study traditional media, such as print and broadcast, as well as newer, convergent forms
• learn about the core media institutions and key approaches to analyse media texts

convergence. These industries include

• internet
• print and publishing
• video
• international media
We offer you opportunities to develop skills in professional media communication and journalism.
As part of the course, you can choose to gain experience in a professional setting. Past work experience opportunities have included • the BBC • regional newspapers • PR and advertising agencies • the voluntary sector.
You improve your academic, social and expressive skills as part of your personal, intellectual and career development. Also, you increase your ability to learn independently and to evaluate your own learning and performance.
