What is international hotel management?
A career in international hotel management can be exciting and varied and offers you the chance to work abroad. There are opportunities for rapid progress in this area, and you can focus on specialist roles.

The hotel industry is a vast, fast moving business and covers all types of hotel, including budget and independent operations, international brands and sophisticated luxury resorts, style, boutique, country house and spas.

This course

Gain the knowledge and skills required to become a leader in the hotel industry with a global perspective. You gain an understanding of the industry and learn how to identify and act on changing patterns of customer demand to run a profitable business in a wide range of different types of hotel. We provide you with the mix of strategic and operational skills you need to succeed in the role, including cultural awareness, HR, revenue management, finance and marketing.

To help build your international employability we give you the option to learn a language during every year of your degree. You can choose from Spanish, German, French, Portuguese and Chinese, from beginner through to beyond A level. This is the only hospitality course at Sheffield Hallam that offers this.

You study in our first class facilities based at City Campus, where you take part in • lectures • seminars • workshops • practical projects • laboratory sessions. Specialist facilities include our restaurant training area with its industry standard EPOS management system which won a Savoy Educational Trust grant.

Once you have spent two years studying the skills required for international hotel management, you then have chance to apply what you’ve learn on a placement. This placement helps to increase your employability and improve your starting salary as you begin your career. We help you find a suitable placement at prestigious hotels such as • Hilton Oceanfront Resort, USA • Gleneagles Hotel, Perthshire • St Pancras Renaissance Hotel • Renaissance Chancery Court Hotel • Waldorf Astoria • Marriott County Hall • Accor.
