This is a level three qualification and candidates will develop practical teaching skills and be able to demonstrate an understanding of the principles associated with teaching in the lifelong learning sector.
The course aims to enable tutors to:
- Adopt an integrated approach to the theory and practice of teaching
- Build up a knowledge of principles of teaching, learning, assessment and evaluation
- Explore a range of methods and techniques of teaching, learning, assessment and evaluation
- Analyse their students’ abilities, potential and learning needs
- Develop their own communication and interpersonal skills
- Design, organise and evaluate teaching and learning programmes

This is a course designed for teachers, trainers and potential teachers of adults working in the post-16 sector.
If successful, the participant will receive an initial qualification, sometimes termed a ‘Licence to Teach’. Certification, which is nationally recognised, is accredited by the City & Guilds Institute of London.
The course will be held on Tuesday evenings commencing
with the Course Induction on 22nd April 2013 from 5pm to
9pm. This will
include a Study Skills session.
A further 13 sessions, from 5.45pm to 9pm, will be held from 29th
April onwards.
Full attendance and commitment is required.
Micro-teaching sessions will be on Tuesday evenings or possibly on
a Saturday, by negotiation with you.
