The classes are aimed at different levels and the work is
planned to suit your needs. As you progress, you will be able to
move up to higher level classes. In English classes you will
develop a range of reading, writing and speaking and listening
skills. You will also learn how to create a range of written
documents to improve your communication in everyday life, both at
college and in the workplace.
You will learn through a variety of activities and everyday topics
that are important to you and take part in individual, paired and
small group work.
Throughout the course, your progress will be recorded on an
individual learning plan. You and your tutor will decide when you
are ready to take your exams.
You will improve your English to gain a recognised Functional
Skills qualification.
Functional skills in English are practical, useful skills that
allow individuals to work confidently, effectively and
independently in life. They are based on the skills that employers

You will get specialist careers support to choose and move on to

You don’t need any qualifications. You will be invited for an interview so we can decide which level of class is most suitable for you.
Depending on the level at which you start, progression paths include higher level courses and employment.
