Working in our commercial salon you will be introduced to all aspects of beauty therapy, allowing you to develop your knowledge and practical skills. During your first year your modules will include skin care and make-up treatments, waxing, pedicure and manicure treatments and consulting and advising clients on treatments. You will study all aspects of beauty therapy at Level 2. You
will learn various aspects of skin care and make-up treatments
including: cleansing, toning and moisturising skin, camouflague,
facial massage and eye treatments. You will learn methods of waxing
and basic hair removal and how to give luxury manicures and
pedicures. Your study will also look at employment standards and
you will develop your communication skills for when dealing with
clients. You will learn about stock control, selling and Health and
Safety so you are aware of safe working practices and salon
practices.
You will have the opportunity to work in the college salons,
supporting other students and dealing with clients in a real
commercial environment. Your course will also involve a one-week
work placement.
Once you have completed the course you can progress into employment as a beauty therapist and/or progress to a higher level of study. Advice and guidance will be given to you on both options.
Beauty Therapy Level 1 Diploma and Functional Skills or entry by successful interview, with an emphasis on life skills, employer references, and previous education and communication skills.
Upon successful completion you will be competent to start work in a salon and/or progress to a Level 3 qualification.
