This course will provide you with an understanding of company accounts, accounting systems and the effects of the economic, legal and technological change on accounting. You will learn how to produce and interpret some financial documents. These accounting skills are useful in a number of jobs and careers and this course provides an ideal background for someone planning a career in accountancy.
We have established links with Kaplan Financial Services in Reading. There is a programme of activities provided by Kaplan which includes visiting speakers from Kaplan, a business challenge careers evening, and the opportunity to apply for the Kaplan Scholarship. We have established links with Kaplan Financial Services in
Reading. There is a programme of activities provided by Kaplan
which includes visiting speakers from Kaplan, a business challenge
careers evening, and the opportunity to apply for the Kaplan
Scholarship. There are also visits and competitions provided by the
Chartered Institute for Management Accountants (CIMA).
You will have your own specialist personal tutor who you will meet
individually or as part of a tutorial and they will help you set
review and achieve your targets. There is an extensive programme of
support to help you make higher education decisions and move on to
university. The vast majority of A-level students progress
successfully to higher education. There is an extensive programme
of enrichment opportunities on offer, including volunteering, work
experience, sport and performing.
Six GCSEs grades A* to C including English Language and Maths. A minimum of a D grade at AS allows you to progress on to your second year of study.
You could progress into an accounting apprenticeship or on to work as an accountant within a business. You could also consider further study with an accounting or business-related foundation degree or degree course.
