Engineering BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3 Awarding Body Edexcel Course Details The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering is designed to allow students to learn and apply engineering knowledge to real engineering problems. The course prepares students for a Degree in engineering or to enter industry. Modules covered: The course is divided into four main areas: Theory The theoretical aspects (maths, science, electrical principles, mechanical principles) provide the students with an understanding of engineering principles, which will be required for work as an engineering technician or to enter a degree level engineering course at University. Practical The practical aspects of the course allow students to gain practical skills and learn how engineering components are made. Design Design allows students to learn and practice design procedures, and translate conceptual ideas into working drawings for manufacture. Project This is a major part of the course in which students will work on an engineering project of their choice. Entry Requirements Four GCSEs at Grade C or above, including Maths and Science, or Engineering BTEC Level 2 with an average grade of‘merit’ or equivalent. Assessment A mixture of in course assessment, project work and end tests. Learning Outcomes BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering.
