Construction (Building Studies) BTEC Subsidiary Diploma Level 3 Awarding Body: Edexcel Course Details This is a one year course covering the following units: Health, safety and welfare. Sustainable construction. Construction technology and design. Construction science and materials. Mathematics in construction. Graphical detailing. A Course for Newly qualified trade/craft persons who wish to progress their career into a technical or supervisory role. The course is also appropriate for mature students with a trade background who wish to progress into similar roles. Entry Requirements Four GCSEs at Grade C, or equivalent, or a BTEC First Certificate or Diploma in Construction or Engineering, or City & Guilds NVQ 3 awards. Assessment Continuous assessment. Progression after Programme As is the case for all National courses, the National Award in Construction (Building Studies) will provide a route to Higher Education to follow Higher National Certificate or Diploma Courses, Degree Courses, and a large proportion of successful students choose to take advantage of this opportunity to move into Higher Education. Additional Information It is also possible to study separately, individual subjects from the National programme. Each subject carries unit value and can lead towards BTEC Certificates of Achievement which can be used towards gaining the full Certificate or direct access to Higher Education depending upon a candidate’s individual ability.
