Accounting and Business AAT Extended Diploma Level 2 Awarding Body AAT Course Details Students will learn the core accounting and finance skills, in addition to payroll, IT and employability skills, which will offer students the opportunity to gain skills that are in high demand by employers. The AAT Level 2 Extended Diploma in Accounting and Business provides opportunities for learners to develop their communication skills as they progress through the course. This can be both through presentations and discussions in which they have the opportunity to express their opinions. Learners should be encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning and achievement, taking into account industry standards for behaviour and performance. It will be beneficial to learners to use local business examples wherever possible, and for centres to engage with local employers for support and input. This qualification consists of ten mandatory units that provide for a combined total of 55 credits. Mandatory units: Processing Bookkeeping Transactions. Control Accounts, Journals & the Banking System. Basic Costing. Work Effectively in Accounting and Finance. Computerised Accounting. Applied Business Communications and Personal Skills. Spreadsheet Software. Developing Study Skills. Introduction to Payroll Systems. Computerised Payroll Skills. Students will also study functional skills in Mathematics and English. Opportunities will be given to develop personal, learning and thinking skills. The course is an applied course where students are encouraged to develop their understanding of business though case studies and independent research. A Course For Anyone wishing to pursue a career in an accounting and business environment, or those wanting to progress onto a BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3.
