The Internal Verifier Award V1

This qualification sets the standard for those involved in internal verification of the assessment process within an Approved Centre. All Approved Centres should have an Internal Verifier to liaise with the awarding body and act as a Quality Assurance Manager.

Course objectives/key benefits:

On completion of the programme candidates will be able to:

• Carry out and evaluate internal assessment and quality assurance systems
• Support Assessors
• Monitor the quality of Assessors' performance

Who the course is aimed at:

Those who have responsibility for managing NVQ programmes.

Course content:

• Candidates are supported by an Assessor who works closely with the candidate and assists them as they build a portfolio of evidence. The Assessor will visit the candidate in their place of work to observe them and advise on portfolio construction as appropriate.
• Candidates will be expected to attend a half day induction onto the Award where they will be issued with a portfolio to help with the construction of their own.
• Further meetings will be arranged to progress the candidate through the qualification. It is expected that most candidates will achieve the qualification within 12 months. If not achieved within the agreed timescales there may be additional costs.

Course outcome/qualification:

V1 Conduct Internal quality assurance of the assessment process.

Pre-requisite knowledge/qualification:

• Qualification in the occupational area they will be assessing
• D32/33 or A1/A2 (these awards have to have been certificated for 18 months prior to commencement of the V1 award)
• Candidates to assess and internally verify
