Who is it for?
This course is for potential assessors, who can identify at least two candidates of different abilities and levels of confidence who must be working towards an NVQ award in a work situation that would allow your assessment practice to be monitored.
Course content
The A1 Award consists of 4 elements:
A1.1 - Develop plans for assessing competence with candidates
A1.2 - Judge evidence against criteria to make assessment decisions
A1.3 - Provide feedback and support to candidates on assessment decisions

Assessment:
The A1 is delivered on a one-to-one basis in your workplace. You can complete your A1 Award using a traditional paperbased portfolio or an eportfolio. Assessment is by means of a portfolio of evidence which you have gathered, written answers to questions, observations of a candidate in the workplace and professional discussions with your Assessor. You must also be able to participate in Assessor and standardisation meetings to gather the evidence for your portfolio.
Entry requirements potential Assessors must hold a suitable qualification in the occupational area in which they plan to assess learners. An interview is required before you can enrol on this course to ensure you have access to appropriate students to complete this qualification. How long will it take? This will depend on how quickly your NVQ candidates complete their NVQ units that you are utilising for your A1 evidence, however, most candidates complete within 6 months.
