Meetings happen every day; effective meetings happen much less often! Running an effective meeting feels like something that we should be able to do naturally, however there are key skills that can be learned which, when applied well, will ensure that meetings are run in the right way, at the right time and with the right outcomes.

Course content:

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to

  • List the main reasons for holding meetings
  • Decide whether a meeting is the most appropriate means of communication
  • Provide focus for your meetings through use of objectives and agendas
  • Identify the key roles and responsibilities of a Chairperson before, during and after a meeting
  • Use a range of skills to control and facilitate meetings to ensure they are effective
  • Ensure that agreed actions are assigned and recorded
  • Close meetings effectively

Training method:

During the course, participants focus on their personal learning objectives whilst taking part in exercises and activities to help them consider the issues from a range of perspectives. A the end of all the workshops, participants go away with a practical action plan to put their learning into practice "back at base camp".

Course outcome/qualification:

PTC Certificate of Attendance.
