The Programme
This course is equivalent to three A Levels. It is assessed by performance and coursework. The course is split into 18 modules. The modules all relate to dance and performing arts, but some aspects may be new to you. You will study wider areas of the dance sector such as performing arts business, historical context, the healthy performer and dance in the community. The core course focuses on the development of technical and performance skills across a range of dance styles. You will study and create your own choreography and work towards rehearsing and performing in productions. Students rehearse and perform in, crew, and organise these productions.
The Programme Content
Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at grade C or above (preferably including English) and evidence of previous performance. You will be auditioned as well as interviewed.
Costs
There will be a studio fee of £30 per term (£90 per year) to cover the cost of essentials such as costumes, sets, lights, theatres, etc. You will probably want to invest in make-up to support your own performance needs. There may also be additional costs which will be advised*.

Progression
In the past, students have progressed to higher education at establishments such as, Laban, London Contemporary Dance School, Northern Contemporary Dance School, Bird, Urdang, LIPA, Roehampton, Bath Spa University and Falmouth University, to study Dance and Musical theatre. We offer foundation degrees at Petroc so you can continue performing to a higher level without the stress and financial hassle of leaving home. Some students in the past have gone straight into the profession (local and national performances).
