This course will teach you the basic skills of hairdressing enabling you to work as a junior stylist; styling, cutting, colouring and perming hair. The Programme Content
You will need to purchase the salon uniform and your personal equipment which will cost approximately £300. Any educational visits, manufacturer diploma courses or similar activities will also be paid by you*.
Entry Requirements
Four GSCEs at grade D or above including English and preferably Science. Good personal presentation skills and commitment to learning. At interview you will also be expected to complete a practical test and pre-entry test to determine your literacy and numeracy levels.

You will need to purchase the salon uniform and your personal equipment which costs approximately £300. There may also be additional costs for educational visits, manufacturer diploma courses or similar activities*.

Progression
On completion of the qualification, you may choose to continue your studies towards achieving the Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing qualification and employment, subject to satisfactory interview. You should make every effort during your first year of the course to find out all you can about the hairdressing profession by asking questions, attending open days and seminars and researching possible career routes to help you make the right career choices.
