Course Content
This is a new course aimed at students who are keen to develop their musical talent in a practical way. Production is not just about playing music, but developing all the skills necessary to record and perform it in a professional manner. Students will learn how to use Ballymoney's music recording studio and how to manage stage performances, in terms of sound, lighting and professional performance techniques.
In particular, the course will focus on:
- Working in the Music Industry
- Planning and creating a music event
- Solo Music Performance
- Working as a Musical ensemble
- Producing a musical recording
- Computer systems used by musicians
- Crewing for performance.

If you are accepted onto this course without a Grade C or above in Maths and/or English you will be required to complete the relevant Essential Skills qualification. This will be a compulsory part of your timetable.
Special Features
Behind every great piece of music are the people who have made it possible - not just the musicians, but also producers, sound engineers, technicians and in the live context, stage designers, lighting designers, production managers, road crew and so on. This course will prime students to think professionally about entering that environment and a clear progression route is provided onto our Level 3 Production Arts or Performing Arts courses.
