Course Content
The BTEC Extended Diploma in Health Studies consists of 13 core units plus five specialist units. Second Year Content: An example of some of the modules taken are: Health Studies ?Public Health ?Physiology of Fluid Balance ?Physiological Disorders ?Nutrition for Health and Social Care ?Microbiology Social Care ?Caring for Children and Young People ?Supporting and Protecting Adults ?Applied Sociological Perspectives ?Health Physchology If you are accepted onto this course without a Grade C or above in Maths and/or English you will be required to complete the relevant Essential Skills qualification. This will be a compulsory part of your timetable.

Special Features
Work experience (400 hours minimum) is an essential element of this course and involves placements with children, older people and people with special needs. Students may be required to cover transport costs to and from their work placement.
