Course Summary:

This award is based on the overarching professional standards for teachers, tutors and trainers in the lifelong learning sector. These professional standards for teachers, tutors and trainers in the lifelong learning sector describe, in generic terms, the skills, knowledge and attributes required of those who perform the wide variety of teaching and training roles undertaken within the sector with learners and employers. This is essential for establishing QTLS.

Course Details:

This is a 24 credit qualification which qualifies someone to teach in an Associate Teaching role. This qualification is made up of a series of optional and mandatory units. This qualification is based on 3 mandatory units: Preparing to teach in the lifelong learning sector (6 credits), Planning and Enabling Learning (9 credits) and Principles and Practice of Assessment (3 credits). Optional units need to make up a further value of 6 credits.

This qualification should be front loaded with the Preparing to teach in the lifelong learning sector (PTLLS).
Candidates need to achieve 30 hours teaching practice before they can gain the Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning sector.
