The part-time Level 3 Childcare and Education Diploma is a 2-year course which will give you full training in the care of children from birth to their 16th birthday.

The Award
Unit 1: An Introduction to working with children
Unit 2: Development from conception to age 16 years
These units are assessed by a multiple choice question paper and an
assessment task.
The Certificate
Unit 3: Supporting children
Unit 4: Keeping children safe
Unit 5: The principles underpinning the role of the practitioner
working with children.
These units are assessed by external assessments and a short-answer
test based on a seen case study.
The Diploma Unit 6: Promoting a healthy environment for
children
Unit 7: Play and learning in children's education
Unit 8: Caring for children
Unit 9: Development of professional skills within children's
education (Practical training 750 hours).
Three optional units.
These units are assessed by external assessments and a research
task.
Career Progression:
Nursery Nurse in a:
- Primary school
- Special needs school
- Special care baby unit or paediatric hospital ward
- Day nursery
- Qualified nanny (UK and Abroad)
- Holiday company childcare representative
Qualified Level 3 Diploma workers work either alone or in partnership with other specialists. They also work closely with the parents, carers and families of the children.
Career opportunities are exciting. Some students choose to go straight on to further study at university.
