Bookkeeping: Level 1 OCR Award - Part Time
Course Summary:
If you are just beginning to discover bookkeeping this course will introduce you to, 'Why we do what we do.' The qualification is aimed at those candidates who are new to the skills and knowledge required of bookkeepers. It will be suitable for those who are studying in preparation for employment in bookkeeping job roles.
It will also be suitable for those who are already employed in bookkeeping roles and who wish to develop introductory knowledge of the underlying principles and practices.

Assessed by aone and-a-halfhour OCR examination taken in December.

Mandatory core unit:Unit 1 - posting to accounts (basic double entry).
Assessed by aone and-a-halfhour OCR examination taken in December.
Non-mandatory units:Unit 2 -maintaining petty cash book (entering petty cash vouchers and receipts into the petty cash book, completing petty cash reimbursement request, cheques, etc.).
Unit 3 - maintaining the cash book (entering transactions in the cash book, balancing the cash book, preparing a bank reconciliation statement, etc.)
Each of the non-mandatory units is assessed byone and-a-halfhour OCR set assignments at times agreed between lecturer and student.
Career Progression:
Students can progress to OCR 2 Accounting.
