Description
Students will engage with a broad based and integrated programme of study in the social sciences at SCQF level 4 and 5. The programme places a strong emphasis on developing the four capacities of Curriculum for Excellence – confident individuals, responsible citizens, effective contributors and successful learners. The development of essential and core skills through active and project based learning are key aims of the programme. The learning will be focused on researching human behaviour and the working of society. A key component of the programme is the SQA National Progression Award in Enterprise and Employability.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
This introductory level course is suitable for people with qualifications at Standard Grade General/Credit level, Intermediate 1/2 or National 4/5.
WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
This course is designed to introduce students to social science subjects and essential/core skills for learning, life and work.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
This course is assessed on a continuous basis. Coursework takes the form of essays, reports, structured questions and practical projects. Assessment of student work is undertaken by College staff.
PROGRESSION ROUTES / CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Students successfully completing this course may progress to the non-advanced course in Social Sciences (SCQF level 5/6) and subsequently onto HND Social Sciences.
