Typical applicants will be expected to have two Highers, one of which should be Mathematics. Applicants should also show an interest in and aptitude for the subject, or have successfully completed a relevant non-advanced College course having shown good achievement.

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
This course is designed for students who would like to gain a qualification in Mechanical Engineering and gain an insight into the wide range of industrial equipment which is essential to many industries in the UK, including the Oil and Gas sector. Time is spent in both labs and classrooms learning the skills and knowledge required of technicians working within the various mechanical areas of UK industry.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
This course is mainly assessed on a continuous basis and does not include an external end-of-course examination. Coursework takes the form of essays, reports, presentations, case studies and practical projects. Most of the assessment of student work is undertaken by College staff.
PROGRESSION ROUTES / CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Partnerships with several universities allow successful candidates to be considered for direct entry to year 3 of appropriate degree courses. Employment opportunities may include employment as trainees within the mechanical engineering industry.
