The BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Sport (Outdoor Adventure) – taught in 1 year - is equivalent to one AS level. The BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Sport (Outdoor Adventure) – normally taught over 2 years - is equivalent to one A level.

This course is designed to give students the experience and skills to start the progression towards a career working in sport and/or the outdoors. It primarily focuses on developing the knowledge, physical skills and leadership skills needed to work in the outdoor/sports industry. You do not need to be experienced but will certainly need to be very keen to go and develop your expertise. You will need to be organised, practically minded and prefer to learn and work on coursework.

Although there are no formal practical requirements, students should be able to demonstrate some relevant experience, aptitude and fitness to ensure they enjoy and can complete the practical units.

Entry Requirements:

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade A* to C, with a grade C or above in English Language preferred.

Which courses go well with this?

This course combines well with other BTEC and AS Level courses. Some students study this as a fourth subject for 2 years and benefit from the UCAS points provided.

Progression:

Alongside other Level 3 courses, the Subsidiary Diploma in Outdoor Education provides students with the opportunity to progress to higher level courses in related fields. When combined with other A levels the UCAS points are acceptable as the equivalent of 1 A level and progression to a wide range of degrees is possible.
