Spanish Level 1

This is a highly enjoyable and structured introductory course. Chief emphasis is placed on the development of the learner's speaking and listening skills, though the more formal features of the language, notably grammar are not ignored

The course content is highly practical, covering all or most of the following:

• Different ways of giving and asking for simple personal, family and work-related information
• A selection of the type of situations which the learner is likely to encounter as a visitor to the country for business or pleasure purposes e.g. communicating with clients, shopping, eating out
• A small sample of writing types e.g. form completion, emails
• Listening practice
• Pronunciation practice
• Insights into aspects of Spanish culture
• The study of key basic grammar structures

In class, the tutor, herself a native speaker of Spanish, will encourage learners to participate fully in classroom activities

Aimed at total or near beginners in the language and/or those having recently completed the taster course
