This is a very popular course building on learners' existing language competence, and developing their all round communication skills in a relaxed atmosphere.
The tutor will introduce learners to a wide range of authentic texts, radio and TV extracts on different themes, and make use of other visual stimuli.
Oral work plays a very large part in the class. This will include informal discussion on topical issues, debates and a range of pair and group tasks.
Other areas of importance are grammar study, writing skills development, and vocabulary extension.
Classes are conducted by a native French speaker and as far as possible, entirely in the target language.

Finally, through her choice of learning materials, the tutor takes
every opportunity to provide learners with insights into different
aspects of French life and culture.
Each week, optional tasks for home study will be allocated. Those
wishing to make serious progress with their studies must realise
that, to achieve this, regular additional work outside class time
is essential.
This course is pitched at between GCSE and A level standard. A
sound basic knowledge of French is needed, at least to GCSE
standard. It is also suitable for those having taken and passed A
level some time ago.
