A practical course covering traditional techniques in both copper foil and lead work.  Learn design, glass cutting, leading and soldering.  By the end of the course you should have designed and completed a project.

A small charge will be made at the first class to cover the cost of materials, and additional costs may be incurred for the materials used during the course.

Learner & Entry Requirements: 

Suitable for all ages and levels of experience.  No special clothing is required.  Basic equipment is provided by the college, but you are welcome to bring your own.

If you already have a notebook, coloured pencils, and stained glass tool, please bring them, but do not purchase them specifically for the course until after the first class.  KAE is unable to offer refunds for any materials, equipment or books if the course is subsequently closed.

Course Aim & Objective: 

To introduce basic stained-glass techniques and to practise skills in class.

By the end of the course you should be able to use tools correctly, cut out different shapes of glass and produce simple designs.

Assessment: 

Work on a project, which will be assessed at the end of the course.

Course Syllabus: 

An opportunity to learn how to make panels and decorative objects (including mirrors, boxes, sun catchers) using applique, copper foil and leading techniques.  The course offers a wide spectrum of disciplines associated with both traditional and modern aspects.  Learn how to develop personal aesthetic sensibility, and develop both as designers and makers.
