The book: Willkommen (Hodder & Stoughton) and writing material. We might need a 2nd book at some stage, but I will notify the students during the course.

Course Aim:

To develop the learners' command of the language further, by exposing them to more topic areas, vocabulary and grammar structures.

To help the learners reach a language level, which will allow them to cope in the target language country or with speakers of the target language in a variety of situations, both social and work or business related.

Course aim & objectives:

  1. Each student will be able to listen or read and respond to different types of written language for a variety of purposes both in formal and informal contexts.
  2. Each student will be able to write and speak in response to stimuli within various contexts and topic areas.
  3. That all students will gain the necessary language tools to be able to develop independently their existing language skills in German and will hopefully be motivated to progress to AS level.

Assessment:

Regular assessment in the form of homework (reading and writing).

GCSE specified assessments (initially as past papers, mocks).

Short presentations (prepared by students – to develop speaking).

Final GCSE exams (writing, speaking, listening and reading).

Progression:

Students who have successfully passed their GCSE exams will be encouraged to progress to German AS.
