solid preparation for your qualification. What will I Study? The AS
topics revolve around 4 main topic areas: Les medias (television,
advertising and modern technology), La Culture Populaire (cinema,
music, fashion) Une Vie Saine (sport, health and holidays) and La
Famille et les Relations Personnelles (friendships, family,
personal relationships). Around these vocabulary and discussion
topics, there is a grammar programme to help you express yourself
accurately and use a variety of tenses, and you will learn how to
write good essays in French. Speaking is an essential part of the
programme and you will also listen to French people's opinions and
points of view on the major themes and topics. How will I be
Taught? You will have 6 hours of French a week, which will include
class sessions to cover the grammar and vocabulary of each of the
topic areas. Through a range of materials, you will be introduced
to new language and be given plenty of opportunity to practice it.
You will have intensive speaking practice with a French assistant,
ensuring good preparation for the speaking compoonent of the exam.
The course book is supported by excellent online interactive
exercises, videos and worksheets. How will I be Assessed? There is
one listening, reading and writing exam at the end of the year
(80%) and an oral exam (20%). During the year, you will have mock
AS exams to monitor your progress and frequent smaller grammar and
vocabulary tests as well as essay writing which will generally be
done for homework.
