Progressing from Level 1 you have the opportunity to experience all aspects of how a band works, rehearsing and building a repertoire for performance. 'The Blues' is applied to different styles of music and the arrangements of the tunes develops from improvisations with plenty of scope for expression.
Additional costs may be incurred for the materials used during the course.
Learner & Entry Requirements:
Learners should have completed Blues into Jazz Level 1 or similar.

Your instrument (amplifier if necessary) music stand and handouts from Level 1. KAE is unable to offer refunds for any materials, equipment or books if the course is subsequently closed.

Course Aim & Objective:
The aim of the course is to provide learners with the opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge gained on the level 1 course, improvising with tunes, backing and solo over chord sequences.
By the end of the course you should be able to perform confidently with a band.
Assessment:
Observation, feedback, Question & Answer sessions.
Progression:
Repeating the course as the repertoire increases and to perform in a band.
Course Syllabus: The skills and knowledge gained from the level 1 course are applied to several tunes, with attention paid to the development of solos, use of dynamics and expression. The performance aspect is covered, including assembling a balanced set of tunes and building a repertoire with a mix of rhythms and styles. The tunes featured in the level 1 course are included, this time in greater detail. Other topics include 'intros' and endings and extended solos. Interplay within a band and the discipline of improvising with larger ensembles.
