Learner & Entry Requirements:
Some basic knowledge of using computers and Microsoft Word. This
level 2 course is suitable for those who have the ability to use a mouse and are familiar with the keyboard.
General & First Session:
If you have pen, paper, folder and A4 folder, please bring them, but do not purchase them specifically for the course until after the first class. KAE is unable to offer refunds for any materials, equipment or books if the class is subsequently closed.
Course Aim & Objective:
Successful completion of the BCS Level 2 Certificate in IT User Skills (ECDL Extra) (ITQ) (QCF).
Course Syllabus:
- IT User Fundamentals - the theory behind many computer actions.
- Using Email and The Internet - communicate and surf the web efficiently.
- Security for IT Users - stay safe using your computer.
- Word Processing - formatted word processed documents.
- Spreadsheets - create spreadsheets and graphs using Microsoft Excel.
- Presentation Software - create a slide show using Microsoft Powerpoint.
- Improving Productivity Using IT - this is a mandatory unit for full level 2 and will demonstrate that you can apply your relevant skills and knowledge to develop a specified outcome, product or solution. You must independently use your ability to plan, evaluate, and improve procedures involving the use of IT tools and systems in order to improve the productivity and efficiency of work activities.
Assessment – (homework, online tests, and/or exams) :
Complete and pass exam for 7 modules required to obtain ECDL certificate.
Assessment is completion of a final test of 45 minutes in 6 modules :
- Security for IT users is a written multiple choice test.
- IT user fundamentals and Using E mail and the Internet are a combination of practical tasks and multiple choice questions.
- Word Processing, Spreadsheets, and Presentations are all practical tasks.
Improving Productivity using IT is a 1 hour final test, covering Knowledge and Performance with multiple choice questions and a scenario style task.
