Description
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the knowledge and practical skills necessary for looking after outdoor pigs. It will cover handling, housing, feeding, welfare, breeding, health, marketing, waste management and relevant legislation. It is an ideal follow on from the Smallholders course. The college’s herd of outdoor sows will be used for the practical elements, as well as their progeny which are housed on a high welfare straw based system.
