Level 3 90 Credit Diploma in IT

The BTEC Level 3 Diploma in IT teaches young people about IT in business. The employer-endorsed content is up-to-date and relevant, reflecting the blend of business, technical, interpersonal and project skills needed by someone who is thinking about a career in the IT. This is a natural follow on course from the BTEC Level 2 course..

Course Content

A wide variety of skills will enable the learner to:

• investigate technology systems used in business
• explore the impact of technology on organisations, individuals and society
• produce small-scale technology systems, including databases and networks
• create effective multimedia products
• learn how to manage and deliver successful IT projects
• develop their team-working, communication and problem-solving skills.

Three days per week in college, plus an optional afternoon for further study or practice.

Entry Requirements

A Minimum of four GCSEs at Grade C or above, including Maths, English. Information Technology and one other subject, or alternatively a suitable Level 2 qualification. Mature students will be considered based on their prior experience.

What Next?/Employment

The BTEC Diploma Level 3 is a highly sought after qualification if going on to University. It is equivalent to 3 AS levels and will give the student up to 210 UCAS points if completed at Distinction level.

IT and web design skills are valuable to all businesses, thus giving a variety of career opportunities.
