This course is for those who are interested in Computing and Information Technology. You do not need to have any previous experience with computers.

This course helps prepare you for employment in the IT industry. The level 1 diploma is intended as a practical 'hands on' programme to help you prepare for a career in the IT field and includes some elements of personal and social development.

Assessment:

There are a number of internal assessments for this qualification. Additionally there will be external exams for functional English and maths.

Progression from this course:

If you pass all of the diploma and personal and social development units and functional skills (English and maths) you may progress onto the BTEC Diploma in IT Level 2 or any other level 2 course.

Course Costs:

All students on full-time courses will need to pay a materials / resources fee. Details will be provided before enrolment. If you are under 19 on 31st August in the year you begin your programme, you will not have to pay tuition or registration fees for your course. For students aged 19 or over, there will be a tuition fee (depends on the course) for each year of the course as well as a registration fee (which includes exam fees). However, many students will be eligible for reduced fees and / or financial support towards the costs. Click here for detailed information. There may be some additional costs for your course. These will be made known to you at interview.

Additional Information:

If you are aged 19 or over, you may be eligible to apply to the college's learner support fund for financial support with the costs associated with your studies.
