Description

The Centre for Foundation Studies at Kingston Maurward College offers courses that start at entry level with the potential to progress onto a full Level 1 Diploma. The courses are aimed at learners who may have mild or moderate learning difficulties, mental health issues and/or a disability. The learners are encouraged to develop their strengths and skills in a positive and supportive environment. The programme is flexible and offers the opportunity for learners to work at their own pace to a great extent.

Please note that this course is NOT suitable for learners with a severe learning difficulty.

Qualification

NPTC Entry Level Certificate in Skills for Working Life - Land-based (Animals) (Entry 2)

Course Content

The course includes units from a wide range of subjects, including:

• Animal Care
• Horticulture
• Practical Countryside Skills
• Outdoor Activities
• Tractor Driving
• Functional Skills (English, Maths and ICT)
• Employability and Personal Development
• Preparing for Work
• Personal and Social Development

Up to four days per week study at college. You will have practical instruction and ongoing assessment in a range of vocational areas, plus portfolio building. You will be placed in small groups with additional Learning Support.

Progressing on to Entry Level 3 Skills for Working Life or Certificate in Practical Skills Development.

Entry Requirements

No formal entry requirements, but students must have a desire to work outdoors in a variety of practical land-based subjects. We will also need full details of special educational needs and any other reports from relevant bodies or establishments, to ensure that we are able to put in place the correct level of support for each individual learnerNext Steps
