PURPOSEThe course seeks to develop an understanding of the basic
concepts of dental public health, the major health problems (and
their determinants) of a community, the organisation of health
services, research methods including epidemiology and methods of
control and prevention of oral and dental diseases.
DESCRIPTION
Subjects covered include major health problems and current public health measures, epidemiology, prevention and control of oral and dental diseases, health education and social and behavioural sciences.
This programme is provided by the Unit of Distance Learning, which consists of a team of highly experienced administrative and support staff are dedicated to providing support to students. Combined with the use of a comprehensive educational delivery system, Vista 8, this allows students to continually interact with staff and colleagues, to further enhance their learning experience.
Partial completion or early exit may result in the award of a Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma.
Minimum computer specification
• PC (1.2GHz or faster processor, 256 MB of RAM) or Mac
• USB headset with a microphone (or separate headphones and
microphone)
• Webcam desirable
• Internet connection (240kbps or faster). Broadband is essential
for full use of all tools. Wires work better than wireless for
maintaining a high-quality connection without any delays, so if you
can connect your computer by cable, it will ensure a good quality
experience.
