Kickstart School

This 24-hour Elementary Dutch Language Course (A1->A2 - Stepping Stone I) is for those with basic knowledge, aiming to bring you to an operational level. You’ll strengthen grammar, structure, and everyday communication at a faster pace than the beginner level.

Kickstart School also introduces key cultural aspects to help you feel at home. Interactive group lessons keep you engaged, learning from both the instructor and fellow students. Our online platform, KickstartNet, supports your progress by reinforcing your knowledge.

Introduction

Kickstart School’s 24-hour Elementary Dutch Language Course (A1->A2 - Stepping Stone I) reinforces and expands upon basic grammar, develops vocabulary, and focuses on improving fluency in speaking equipping you with the skills to handle everyday situations. Using a communicative approach, you will practise speaking in Dutch from the start (50% Dutch- 50% English). The maximum group size is 8 for online classes and 10 for face-to-face sessions. The course runs for a total of 24 hours. The course covers vocabulary, grammar, language functions, and culture. We apply the flipped classroom concept, requiring 2–3 hours of preparation before each class to ensure better learning outcomes. 

Target Group

Our group courses are designed for middle to highly educated professionals who are motivated to combine self-study with guided lessons. Courses are available from beginner (A0) to advanced (C1) levels.

Course Content & Teaching Methods

The course covers real-life communication, integrating grammar and vocabulary through practical exercises. It consists of two main components:

• Teacher-led group lessons (online or in-person)
• E-learning: varied assignments on our online platform

Learning objectives

• By the end of the course you will be able to:
• Do everything described at the A1 level but at a faster pace
• Speak about your routine, habits, and hobbies
• Ask/give directions
• Speak about past and future events
• Tell a story and also describe the situation/context
• Use the modal verbs (+ infinitive) in the simple past
• Read and talk about a simplified book (graded reader)
• Write a simple e-mail or complaint

Intake Procedure

You can register for your preferred course, and we will contact you to confirm your booking, subject to availability. However, to ensure the course is a good fit for you, we also need to assess your level. Please complete our online level test and schedule a spoken intake on our website.
