To enable participants to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to become an innovative, reflective and enquiring university teacher, and to develop effective relationships with colleagues and students based on mutual trust and respect.
Programme Content
There are three modules within the programme - two core modules, plus a further module from a range of options, which allows participants to tailor the programme to their own practice. The core modules are Learning, Teaching and Assessing in Higher Education, and Professional Development. The programme comprises self-study with optional workshops, interaction with the University virtual learning environment, Blackboard, and support from an Academic Supporter and Buddy.
Methods of Assessment
The Programme utilises and models a range of innovative assessment methods, including a reflective critique on a video recording of teaching practice and an action research project.
Entry Requirements
The Certificate is designed for staff who are currently teaching or supporting learning in higher education, who may be new to teaching or who want to develop their existing teaching skills further. Participants must demonstrate that they are capable of working at postgraduate level. Participants are also required to be actively involved in teaching, assessing and supporting learning within higher education.
