Developing Teaching And Learning In The Post-Compulsory Sector

Masters Level Module

This core module is distinctive in that, firstly, its primary focus is the diverse range of contexts that teachers in the post-compulsory sector work in, and secondly, that it is practice based and longitudinal. The module is directly rooted in the student's own professional practice, and aims to develop an understanding of new developments in teaching and learning in the post-compulsory sector; explore teaching and learning strategies in the learner's own context as well as that of others; and explore key pedagogical issues relevant to the post-compulsory sector. The module will provide the foundation for developing reflective professionals who can evaluate their own knowledge and practice in the field of teaching as well as engage with theoretical frameworks and research findings. The module will be integral to practice and provide an ongoing opportunity for students to begin to formulate their own ideas on researching in and on practice.
