What do I need to get on this course?
Once you have submitted our online application
form, you will be sent a letter, inviting you in for an assessment.
This is so that we can find the suitable level course for you.
How will I be assessed?
Your level of English will be assessed. You will be interviewed by an experienced tutor and placed on a course.
Once on the course, you will be able to take examinations in Speaking and Listening, Reading and Writing with Cambridge ESOL Skills for Life or English Speaking Board.
Where does it lead?
The college will help to give you advice about learning and employment opportunities.
After completing a year, some students stay for a second year because they need a higher level of English. Some move to GCSE courses. Some students do vocational courses, including Health and Social Care, Motor Vehicle, Fashion and Business.
Previous GEMS have progressed onto university to study a variety of subjects.
