Course Content
Candidates must prove competence in four mandatory and five optional units. Mandatory Units - Manage and develop yourself and your workforce within care services,:Lead and manage provision of care services that respects, protects and promotes the rights and responsibilities of people; Develop and maintain systems, procedures and practice of care services to manage risks and comply with health and safety requirements; Lead and manage effective communication that promotes positive outcomes for people within care services Optional units are taken from a suite of five units - A - E inclusive.
Assessment Method
Assessment takes place in the workplace with the majority of evidence generated by the candidate from their normal work - based activities. Direct observation by an assessor is required as the primary source of evidence for this qualification. Work products, professional discussion, witness testimonies will demonstrate competence and the application of knowledge. You will be allocated an assessor who will judge the evidence of your performance, knowledge and understanding against the units of competence in order to determine whether you have demonstrated competence at this level.
Progression
Successful completion of this course enables you to progress onto a variety of qualifications including: ILM NVQ Level 5 in Management; Diploma in Management Studies; MBA programmes.
Entry Requirements
Applicants are expected to already be in management and have two different types of qualifications. One of these should be relevant to the care environment for which they are responsible. This could include: Diploma in Social Work; Nursing with live registration - Diploma in Occupational Therapy - Diploma in Physiotherapy - NVQ Care Level 4 - NVQ Level 4 in Health & Social Care.The second qualification should be in managing care services for which the NVQ 4 in Leadership and Management for Care Services is relevant.
