BTEC Foundation Diploma Art and Design Full Level 3

This course is designed to build on and link in with previous Art & Design experience, enhancing your creative skills whilst learning to work independently.

Course Content

The course is made up of nine units grouped into three stages and the emphasis throughout the course is on exploring and experimenting with materials, techniques and processes (both 2D and 3D), thinking skills and analytical work.

Assessment Method

Projects: the final major project is externally assessed before a grade can be issued.

Progression

The Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art & Design is intended to be a bridge to Higher Education. It builds on your ability to produce work by instilling a level of critical awareness and is a natural pathway to university and higher education courses.

Additional Information

In order to be able to study on this course you will need to buy a range of art equipment, sketchbooks and a portfolio to keep your work in. There is an Art shop within the Arts Centre that stocks the materials and equipment listed above at competitive prices. We can provide two Art Kit Boxes which include the essential range of equipment for you to start your course, starting from as little as £25.00 You will also need an A4 folder with dividers in which you must keep all of your paperwork, handouts, notes, research, evaluations, feedback and assessments. In addition to these a 35mm film camera and/or digital camera to record your work will be an advantage. Educational Visits During the course you will be required to attend a number of day visits to museums, exhibitions, other colleges, universities and, on occasions, residential visits. There will be a cost involved in these visits with the average being around £20 per visit.

Entry Requirements

Applicants will need to be 18 years and over, have 2 A-Levels (1 Art - based) /relevant Level 3 Diploma or equivalent/relevant portfolio of work and satisfactory references.
