This course is designed to enable you to:

Develop knowledge, understanding and the skills you need to enter employment in a wide range of roles

Focus on developing key skills for the work environment: such as improving own learning, working with others and problem solving

Is it for me?

The course is taught over one year. The Employability Skills Certificate is equivalent to one GCSE. Assessment takes place within college using assignments, case studies and work-based assessments, along with projects and observation of your performance.

It covers a wide range of areas including: making a good first impression, CV development, researching organisations, preparing for face-to-face interviews, identifying your own strengths and weaknesses, communication, teamwork skills, legislation and health and safety.

Effectiveness at Work

Working in a Team

Investigating Rights and Responsibilities

Additional Work Skills Units

Entry Requirements:

A range of GCSEs at grades D to G

Or

Level 1 or 2 vocational qualification

If you do not have a grade C or above in English Language or Maths, you will study these subjects as an essential part of your programme of study.

This course can be taken as part of a Level 2 programme of study.

Progression:

This unit provides an opportunity for students who are seeking to enter employment to achieve a nationally recognised level 2 vocationally specific qualification.
