On completion of this course you will have a good grounding to progress to more advanced courses such as a specialist BTEC Level 3 programme relating to moving image and video production. With further training or study, you can also go into a wide range of careers in the Media including broadcasting, sound production, film, video and TV production.
Additional Information
If you are studying on a BTEC programme at college then you will also be required to attend a 1 or 2 hour Functional Skills session and a 1 hour Tutorial session per week. This will give you opportunities to develop and enhance your personal, communication and academic skills, which can then be applied to a wide range of subjects and to areas of employment. Equipment and Costs In order to be able to study on this course you will need to buy some media equipment.You will also need an A4 folder with dividers in which you must keep all of your paperwork, handouts, notes, research, evaluations, feedback and assessments. There is an Art shop within the Arts Centre which stocks some of the materials and equipment that you will need at competitive prices. Educational Visits During the course you will be required to attend a number of day visits to museums, TV studios, other colleges, universities and, on occasions, residential visits. There will be a cost involved in these visits with the average being around £20 per visit.
Entry Requirements
3 GCSEs (Grade D or above), or a relevant and appropriate Level 1 course with a Merit profile, a real interest in the subject and satisfactory references.
