Course Content

You will take four core subjects:

  • Applied science for technicians
  • Mathematics for technicians
  • Using engineering information
  • Working safely You will also take four specialist units:
  • Computer Aided Design
  • Maintenance procedures & planning
  • Programming CNC machines

You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands.

Progression

This qualification helps students progress onto higher level qualifications such as a Level 3 Diploma or A-Levels. Alternatively, it can lead to a range of Apprenticeships in manufacturing or associated trades such as vehicle engineering or electrical work. This course also provides essential knowledge required for several NVQ Level 2 qualifications in Manufacturing.

Grantham College has joined together with local engineering/manufacturing companies to offer students who are applying for engineering courses a special sponsorship package. Successful applicants are sponsored during the first year of their course and receive from their sponsoring company:

Entry Requirements

Applicants should normally possess 2 GCSEs (Grade D or above, including Maths or Science), or the BTEC Introductory Diploma in Engineering.
