Course content

Students are required to select one option from a selection. The following is for illustrative purposes only:

NB: For part-time students, for semester one read ‘year one’, for semester two, read ‘year two’ and for semesterthree read ‘year three’.

Semester One: Three core modules of 20 credits each (60 credits)

  • Managing Resources in a business context
  • Leadership and people management
  • Achieving corporate success

Semester Two: One core module and two Options of 20 credits each (60 credits)

  • Strategic thinking and effecting change
  • Option
  • Option

Semester Three: One module – 60 Credits

  • Dissertation – 15,000 words on a topic of your choice but must lie in the business and management discipline. Part-time students often choose a work-related project to enhance their career prospects.

Entry requirements

An initial degree from an approved degree-awarding body or a non-graduate qualification which GlyndŵrUniversity deems of suitable standard for postgraduate study would be required. If you are a non-graduate, you will need to have held a position of responsibility (relevant to the course) at least for two years.

Career opportunities

This course will prepare you for senior managerial positions in a range of organisations including: commercial, not-for-profit and the public sector. Many students undertake an MBA to generally enhance their career prospects, change career direction, fast-track their career in their existing organisation and to break through glassceilings. In addition, MBA graduates typically generate significantly increased salaries over their career.

Assessment

The taught modules in year one (full-time) and year one and year two (part-time) will be assessed predominantly through individual or group assignments. However, several modules have an examination as part of the assessment procedure. You must pass all of your modules to attain 120 credits and progress to the dissertation stage.

To be awarded the MBA, successful completion of the dissertation is required, and 180 credits attained. If you are studying full-time you will be required to submit your dissertation in the autumn following assessment in May. Part-time students have approximately one year to complete. Upon progression to the dissertation stage you will be allocated a supervisor to advise on the construction and progression of your dissertation.
