Success Information

Those wanting to enter the Heatlth and Social Care workforce have obtained jobs with local care providers including support roles, teaching assistants and on care teams. Many of our students wish to pursue careers in nursing, social work or midwifery, and a large number of our Level 3 students have gone on to obtain places on their chosen courses at University for 2014. A recent Ofsted inspection found that "The college provides a good range of relevant and stimulating opportunities for learners to visit employers and take part in community and charitable enterprises. This has included a trip to a maggot farm to obseve how live maggots are used in the manufacture of sterile dressings, and fundraising and volunteering to work in an orphanage in Kenya"

Case Studies

Nadia enrolled on the course two weeks prior to the birth of her baby three years ago and has now, on successful completion of her BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care, secured a place at UWE (University of West England) to study nursing. Nadia says “Since I was 16 I have wanted to be an adult nurse and this course has allowed me to achieve that dream whilst raising my young daughter. With the support of great lecturers and a brilliant placement offer I passed my course with Distinctions. My personal tutor was brilliant and supported me throughout the two years of the course and with my successful UCAS application. I really enjoyed my time at the Royal Forest of Dean campus and will miss everyone as much as I am looking forward to new experiences at university.”
