About This Course

Here's what you will learn to do: IT Confidence Part 1 · Start up and close down a computer safely · Familiarise yourself with a computer keyboard and mouse · Basic introduction to Microsoft Word for word processing, formatting (changing the way documents look) · Save your documents; saving, moving, copying, deleting, renaming files and folders · Using the World Wide Web for work . Send and receive an email . What is Microsoft Office; review the various packages and find out what they do and when to use them Your tutor will regularly review your activities and offer you support and guidance. You will be encouraged to identify small, realistic and achievable goals to work towards throughout the course and will keep a learning log to monitor your progress and achievement within the group. By the end of the course you will have gained skills and confidence in using a variety of software packages that are applicable to the workplace.

Additional Notes

Learners will be advised of any special equipment or resources required at the first class, but you may like to bring along a ring binder, pen and paper for notes and handouts. Your tutor will explain the benefits of purchasing your own memory stick.

Entry Criteria

This course is aimed at adults aged 19 years and over who are seeking to re-enter employment, self employment or volunteering, or seeking to change their skills set to embark on a new career. Enrolment on more than one Adult Education funded course (excluding recreational courses) is not permitted. Transfer to alternative AdEd funded courses can only be permitted under exceptional circumstances. Student Services can advise.
