Today, engineering in general - and electronics in particular - is an international business. Most of the leading companies (e.g. Intel) operate not just in several countries, but across continents. Most emphatically, electronics is developing at a more rapid pace than ever before. This makes the job of the Electronic Engineer both exciting and challenging: it also means that there are great rewards for engineers, both in terms of remuneration and job satisfaction. All of our engineering courses are accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology, which contributes towards satisfying the requirements for Chartered Engineer status. You will also have the opportunity to take the option of a placement year in industry, which will develop your confidence and help you gain that vital element of relevant experience which so many employers demand today. What's involved The first year study is identical to the other BEng courses in the school, giving a broad foundation in engineering before choosing what you want to specialise in. Year 1 Computers in Engineering, Engineering Laboratory, Foundation Mathematics, Engineering Principles (Electrical and Electronic) and Engineering Principles (Mechanical), Option 1. Option 1: Any level 7 module from School of Engineering and the Built Environment modules or the University co-curricular module pool for which you have the appropriate prerequisite. Year 2 Electronic Devices & Circuits, Electrical Engineering, Intermediate Mathematics, Management for Engineers 1 and Control Measurement & Instrumentation, Option 2. Option 2: Any Level 7 or 8 module from School of Engineering and the Built Environment modules or the University co-curricular module pool for which you have the appropriate prerequisite. Year 3 Signal Processing, Electronic Systems, Engineering Applications - Electrical & Electronic, Programmable Control Engineering, Engineering Design (Honours) or Individual Project (Degree). Year 4 Engineering Electronics, Digital Systems Design, Embedded Systems, Programmable Logic Design, Honours Project.
