Becoming a 'master coach' is a journey of exploration and experimentation, and a team of expert coaches will help you to explore and apply advanced behavioural skills needed to be an exceptional coach. Exploring and utilising the most current thinking in the area of positive psychology, you will learn to apply these models to your own coaching practice and develop competence in using them with your own coaching clients. Offered on a part-time basis, this course involves a complete journey towards challenging and refining your own coaching skills. This is combined with an in-depth analysis of the growth and current thinking in the world of coaching. In particular, it offers an opportunity to explore the most recent thinking in positive psychology and how this applies to coaching, involving internationally-recognised leaders in the area of positive psychology. The course includes full accreditation for the EQi Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire - a ground-breaking psychometric with numerous applications in organisations, as well as in coaching programmes. A series of thought-provoking workshops will be supplemented by small tutor groups where your learning will be enhanced by peer assessment and where you can gain the support you need to put the learning into practice. The course will also require you to coach a number of people using the tools and techniques explored during the course. This effective and unique mix of academic input and practical application will equip you with the knowledge, skills and tools to become a more skilful, knowledgeable and effective coach. On completion of this course of study you will have the skills to deal with complex issues in the fields of coaching and positive psychology both systematically and creatively. What's involved The course will initially be delivered in a Part-Time/Flexible mode and will last 2 years. The two modules are at SCQF Level 11. All are compulsory modules for the MSc Coaching. Semesters one to four you will study The Confident Coach (HRM11673) which makes up 120 credits. Semesters four to six you will study Management Practice Report (SOP11680) where a further 60 credits are available.
Requirements at a glance Entry to the course You'll need an Honours degree and will be required to attend as assessment day, give the specialised nature of the course. We recognise that not everyone will have an honours degree, and admission processes are designed to enable judgement to be made regarding equivalence to Honours degree outcomes extracted from Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework. Applicants within this category must attend and successfully complete an assessment day and show that they have some work experience within the business world. There is also a Masters bridging programme available for direct entry students aimed to develop business knowledge and academic writing skills which you can undertake before entering the Masters programme.
